Smart Phone Market

Alternatives to the Motorola Backflip

Smart Phone Market
The Motorola Backflip, an Android platform phone has captured nearly half of the smart phone market thus far. There are other smart phones available if you don't want to run with the rest of the herd towards the Motorola Backflip. Here are a few alternatives to the Motorola Backflip.
The Apple iPhone4 is a great smart phone with a lot to offer. From customizable voice recognition typing apps to fully integrated web surfing and GPS social networking applications, the iPhone4 also boasts 4G connectivity. The HTC Droid Incredible from Verizon is another viable alternative to the Motorola Backflip. With Verizon's 3G network connectivity is lightning fast. The HTC Droid Incredible has built upon the Android 2.1 smart phone features and enhanced it with an 8.1 megapixel camera, 8 Gigs of internal memory, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS. CNET has this phone as their editor's choice for all Verizon smart phones.
The RIM Blackberry Bold 9700 offered by T-Mobile is a great phone alternative as well. The RIM Blackberry Bold incorporates a brilliant screen display that is a bit smaller than other smart phones due to the QWERTY keyboard on the face of the phone. While not a touch screen phone, it does offer an optical track pad instead of the old school track ball on the phone face. Whatever your phone of preference, you should be able to find something that you like with the manufactures racing to capture the market of smart phone users.
The C6 is part of the new consumer smart phone family from Nokia, which means that it is designed to incorporate the communication features of regular smart phones, but in a more straightforward interface making it an ideal phone for Social Media fans.

Apple Ups the Ante With 3G IPhone

It's been just over a year since the iPhone was released, and Apple is upping the ante in the smart phone wars.
A survey of 3,567 consumers - conducted in the aftermath of Apple's June 9th announcement on the release of its 3G model - shows the next generation iPhone having a tsunami-like impact on the smart phone market.
At present, the Canadian Blackberry manufacturer Research in Motion (RIMM; 42%, unchanged) is the clear consumer smart phone market leader among smart phone owners.
The Coming Apple Tsunami
When we asked respondents about their planned smart phone purchases over the next 90 days the full extent of the marketplace transformation becomes apparent.
An astonishing 56% of respondents who plan to purchase a smart phone in the next 90 days say they're getting an Apple iPhone - a huge 21-pt leap from the previous survey.
Going forward, RIM's share of consumer planned purchases is set to take a hit over the next 90 days, falling 6-pts to 23%. Palm remains a far distant third with just 3% of planned purchases.
The 10.5% represents a sharp jump from our previous survey in March, and it is the highest percentage of planned smart phone buyers we've recorded in a survey (see chart below).
An extraordinary four-in-five iPhone owners (78%) report they're Very Satisfied with their iPhone. While the 3G iPhone announcement has catapulted Apple into the lead over RIM in terms of planned consumer smart phone purchases, it should be remembered that RIM has a huge lead of its own in the corporate smart phone market. RIM is also still the leader among current owners in the consumer market.
Moreover, RIM isn't sitting idly by while Apple roles out the 3G iPhone.
